The Times, Independent and Guardians are the major newspaper recorded in the UK for a century or more. The influence of the media was huge as everybody can see. They have broad spread even over the world, especially on sports, political issues, and technologies.
It is quite surprise that the wolfson section of the library has the record of these papers many years ago. It has been shot and kept by the film. Certainly some kind of unknown machine is used for readers. Of course it is not a good idea to go back to those rusty papers half a century ago, while these films did provide the great interests even for decades. Advertisings on these newspaper are black and white to start with. They are simple and generally they appeared to be the symbol of different eras.
One piece of record from the Times in March 1986 illustrates something really old fashioned before. It is achieved by the printing copy of the film. This is public sevice advertising as it helps the public raising awareness of personal health issue.
